Hyderabad’s YIRA MedSense has read more than 1 lakh medical documents for health insurance claims, flagging 5,000+ suspicious cases

AI built by Yira.ai turns handwritten case histories, lab reports and hospital tariffs into structured claim data, as Indian insurers face one-hour cashless timelines and new fraud rules.

Hyderabad, 7 October 2026 — Yira.ai (Yira Health Tech Pvt Ltd), a Hyderabad health-technology company, today shared results from YIRA MedSense, its medical document intelligence platform for health insurers, third-party administrators (TPAs) and hospitals. Running in production at a leading health insurance TPA in India, MedSense has parsed more than 1 lakh medical documents and flagged over 5,000 cases for review by claims investigators.

A single health claim can include a handwritten case history, lab reports, a hospital bill and a tariff sheet. Claims teams have traditionally read and re-typed these documents by hand. With IRDAI’s master circular requiring insurers to decide cashless authorisation within one hour and final discharge within three hours, and the IRDAI Insurance Fraud Monitoring Framework in force since 1 April 2026, the time taken to read a claim file has become a bottleneck.

MedSense addresses that step. It:

  • reads medical histories, including handwritten notes, lab reports and hospital tariffs, and returns structured data such as ICD-10 codes, drug names and billing line items;
  • compares the patient’s ID photo with the hospital image and reports how closely they match;
  • checks each new document against earlier records and flags close matches for investigators, for example 16 of 17 fields matching a prior claim;
  • applies contract tariff rules per room category, keeping missing rates visible rather than estimating them.

Documents arrive through an API, a mobile app or a bulk scanning portal, and the structured output flows into TPA portals, insurer claim systems and hospital records. A typical rollout takes four to five weeks, from sandbox to go-live.

“Most delays in a health claim happen before anyone makes a decision, while someone is still reading the file. We built MedSense so that claims teams spend their time on judgment, not on re-typing documents, and so that suspicious patterns are visible the moment a document arrives,” said Dr. Madhu Vasepalli, Founder & CEO, Yira.ai.

“TPAs and insurers ask us one question first: will it work on our own documents? That is why every MedSense conversation starts with a live run on a customer’s sample file,” said Surya Teja, Head of Presales, Yira.ai.

Yira.ai is ISO 9001:2015 certified, SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR compliant, and a member of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI). MedSense is available to insurers, TPAs, hospitals and health-software companies in India and internationally, including as a partner API and white-label service.
